I spent some time taking pictures at the old and abandoned Winchester Rifle factory in New Haven. Here’s the first batch – the outside. Click on any image to start a slide show.

Packed House at the US Open Leave a comment
Despite rain delays, the stands were packed for the Federer match. Even people on the other court tried to get a peek of the match:
The stands were full to the very top:

Hidden Robin Leave a comment
This little Robin had built her nest in a bush on the side of her house, guarding two blue eggs. Then one day there was only one egg, and the Robin never returned.

I didn’t know until I looked at this picture on my computer that I had caught this little fly enjoying the hibiscus flower.

This Bike Climbed Mt. Washington Leave a comment
That’s what the bumper sticker says on the fuel tank. And it looks like this Harley Davidson has seen quite a bit of road in its lifetime. Photographed in Branford, CT.

Night on Clinton Beach 4 comments
It was such a beautiful night after a day of 90 degrees that I went to the beach at midnight, only to finally look at my watch and realize I had spent 2 hours taking pictures and playing around with my flashlight.

Indoor Clouds, part 2 2 comments
A quick trip to Boston only provided one photo opportunity, of puffy clouds reflecting in the John Hancock Building. This is part 2 of a series, the first entry coming from Oregon and posted earlier here.

The light is getting more and more beautiful in the evenings here in Connecticut. Soon the temperature will cooperate, too.

Sat in Madison Park yesterday before lunch, and enjoyed an impromptu trumpet concerto while enjoying the warm weather and the view of the Flatiron Building, one of my favorite buildings in the world.

Goodbye, Lovely Vermont 1 comment
Tomorrow ends my last winter visit to Stowe, VT. Haven’t taken too many pictures lately because I feel like I’ve exhausted the possibilities, and because skiing has taken precedence. But here are a few that I liked from this week:

Shells, Shells, Shells 1 comment
Hammonasset Beach in Connecticut is covered in these shells. Finding a spot where they take up the entire viewfinder wasn’t difficult. Deciding whether I like the color or b&w version better was tough.

Storm over Devils Tower 3 comments
I shot these pictures as a storm was developing near Devils Tower in Wyoming. I had to rush to get into a position where the storm clouds and the sunset converged, and made it just in the nick of time:

These windmills look pretty indestructible to me, and are about 20 times bigger than an old-fashioned windmill.
I’ve started using Nik Color Efex to enhance some of my photos. This is a good example what that software can do for a mediocre picture (original below):
